Cast Your Cares

Have you ever developed an I don’t care attitude? Things just aren’t going as you would like, so you just throw your hands up in the air and say, “I don’t care!” Tired of waiting for your breakthrough or receiving bad news or dealing with this and dealing with that, so you just throw your hands up and say, “I-don’t-care- anymore!” Initially it may feel good walking around with a careless attitude as a defense mechanism so nothing else can bother you, but we have to be careful because this is where the enemy can lure you into a place that you truly do not want to go.

I had planned on posting a different blog today until I read a devotional yesterday called Fill Me Up God – Fill Me Up. It caused me to reflect on somethings within. See a careless mindset is a way of thinking. If you walk around thinking that way, then your actions will soon follow. It will pour into your job, your relationships, how you handle situations, conversations with others, and ultimately your behavior (the way you speak, think, smile, or act). For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he… (Proverbs 23:7); what’s in your heart (selfishness, anger, greed, etc.)?

Earlier this week, as I woke with my mind free of any confusion or tasks for the day, the Holy Spirit informed me that I had been allowing situations to get to me, which was changing my outward response to everything else. It was at that moment that things became clear. I was thankful to know that God is always with me regardless of my mistakes. We just have to get to a quiet place where we can hear Him and his guidance without all the clutter in our heads. Therefore, I encourage you not to jump up so quickly after praying or to just lie still when you arise from rest in the morning. I have received many answers to prayers by just being still.

The enemy does not want us to care about anything, especially our relationship with God (goal). Have you ever felt tired of praying because things weren’t changing fast enough, so you just stop? I don’t care anymore attitude. You may have only planned to stop for that moment and not open your Bible, but then it becomes a daily routine. Soon after, a person may start acting like others in the world who don’t care and live a carefree life. The world is full of greed, selfishness, disloyalty, and everything that is not of Christ. We must be careful to ensure that we do not go down this path.

I’m not saying life is always easy. I don’t know what you are facing today. Sometimes we will have to wait for the blessing. But God is faithful, and His Word says it in the Holy Bible. Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken (Psalm 55:22).

God cares about everything that concerns you. It doesn’t matter how big or small. If it’s a concern in your life, then He cares. I had to remind myself of this same verse this week. Cast your cares to Him.

He cares, so we don’t have to stop caring. Remember the footprints in the sand poem? If not, search for it online. It’s a beautiful poem that truly depicts how God carries us through troublesome times when we’re unable to handle it ourselves. Allow Him to carry you through those difficult times. Don’t stop caring, don’t stop praying, and don’t stop praising God for the breakthrough. Your time is coming if you do not give up.
