Don’t Look Back. Don’t Be Moved

A couple weeks ago I was preparing to go to church when I received a work request that I had to stop and handle. Needless to say, the request took some time and caused me to run behind. I became frustrated and part of me wanted to stay home because I didn’t want to be late. But No! We know how the enemy works, so I left for church and received a powerful message about not looking back that I knew was for me. I’m so glad I didn’t miss it!

My Pastor spoke from Isaiah 43:18:

18 Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
19 See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
    and streams in the wasteland.

If you’re not familiar with this verse, I encourage you to read and meditate on it. As believers it’s not just important to read God’s Word, but to allow it to get deep within us where we’re able to recall it and apply it in our daily lives.  It is written in Psalm 1:1-3

Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
    whatever they do prospers.

Remember friends, what we put in us is what we will get out.

The sermon spoke to my heart and I pray these verses will serve its purpose in your lives as well. Don’t look back at yesterday’s troubles. There are seasons in everyone’s life. If you’re out of a storm, don’t allow anyone or anything to take you back. God has delivered you and who the Son sets free is free indeed (John 8:36).

Enjoy life! Rejoice! Just because someone else may be enduring a time around you does not mean you have to allow them to break your peace. We should have compassion for others and pray for one another (Ephesians 6:18). This does not mean allow someone else to move you from the place where God has brought you. I remember going through a season in my life where I started out with more friends than I had finished with, but God! He never left me! And He will never leave you (Hebrews 13:5)! Therefore, I refuse to allow someone else to steal my joy, peace, and all that He has given me.

Have you ever walked into a room and someone tried to invade your space with drama? Friends do not take it on! Allow the Holy Spirit to guide you during that time. You do not have to allow your peace to be taken. Enjoy life when there are no troubles. Accept God’s peace and walk in it. We do not know what tomorrow may bring (Matthew 6:34). If you come out of a trial, then allow the enemy to use others to steal your joy (repeating this cycle in life), then when will you ever enjoy God’s blessings? Or enjoy what you have prayed for?

Don’t look back when someone tries to take you back, but continue to look forward at what God is doing in your life. Focus on the new thing He is doing and always remember to give thanks. For God is the One who brought you out of the storm   always remember this and never forget it.

As always, giving thanks to our heavenly Father for His Son Jesus Christ who died on the cross for all our sins (past, present, and future) and rose on the third day. He lives! Jesus makes it all beautiful in His timing. Don’t look back! God is doing something new in your life. 💓
