Sometimes in life we cause our own pain (e.g., we stay at a place or with someone longer than we should, we ignore God’s warnings, we hold on to something longer than we should, etc.), but what happens when someone else’s brokenness or lack of responsibility falls upon you? What are you supposed to do?
Having a pity party is not going to change anything. It just leaves you in a state of withdrawal and gloom for longer than you need to be.
Blaming the other person may feel acceptable for the moment, but in the end it doesn’t move you towards the healing you need to move forward in life.
Pretending that you’re OK so that others around you will not know that you’re hurting, or don’t have it all together is not going to help either with the healing process.
So what should you do?
In the case of brokenness, it is time to think about the one person who has been neglected or is hurting. That is you.
If you are falling apart then how can you be there for others? If your mind is cloudy from your concerns, then how can God use you effectively to witness to nonbelievers? I’m not saying to use this as a reason to disregard everyone else or your responsibilities or choose not to help someone because you’re going through a difficult season. What I am saying is: recognize that you are hurting, don’t pretend you’re not.
I have the following magnet at my desk at work: Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you. 1 Peter 5:7.
You may be struggling today with:
• Accepting the new normal
• A hurtful experience
• How the other person seems to be at peace but you’re not
• Waiting on God to intervene
But find peace in the following scripture:
Psalm 34:18 The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.
This verse alone has gotten me through some difficult times, BUT God is faithful and He brought me through. He will do the same for you because God is no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34). This means He does not show favoritism. He loves all His children. This includes you.
You can stand on His Holy Word in Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. We are all called, God created us, so don’t allow the enemy to cause you to think anything differently. We just have to cast our cares to Jesus and trust Him to work it out in His timing.
God can heal your broken heart, turn your situation around for you, and then use what you thought would kill you to become a testimony to someone else. HE IS JUST THAT GOOD! I know you may be hurting and it may seem like the pain will never end, but find comfort today in knowing that God cares. He has the answer. Get the thoughts out of your mind that things will never change – there is nothing that you can see now or in the near future that will change your situation. The bed has been made…No, no, no, we serve an amazing God who is not NOT limited. You’re not asking yourself to fix it; you’re seeking God the creator of the heavens and the earth (Genesis 1:1).
Psalm 146:6 He is the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them– he remains faithful forever.
Today, I encourage you to set aside time to talk with your heavenly Father. Go to Him in prayer. Ask Him for what His Word already says He will do for you (this means opening up the Bible and reading it) – provide healing – and watch God work it all out in your life. I am telling you what I know is factual – I am a living witness.
If you have a testimony to share, then share it with someone else today. God heals the broken-hearted.
If you are not saved, please visit my Salvation Prayer page. The promises I wrote about can be for you too by accepting God’s free gift of salvation today. Jesus has already paid the price. Choose not to let another day go by without Him. It’s just not worth it.
Love you all in Christ,

Love this! Yes, brokenness is not always yours to carry. Sometimes we cannot distinguish our hurt from the person who is hurt & causing more hurt. Hurt people, hurt people. Regardless of who’s to blame, God doesn’t want either or any to hurt. But learn to surrender the pain for him to carry on our behalf. Our healing comes from God, not the other person acknowledgment of the pain caused. Seek God diligently & daily for peace, in Him we are Complete & healed. Be Intentional
