We all have a ministry inside of us

We all have a ministry inside of us. We do not have to be a pastor standing behind a pulpit on Sunday morning or your day of community worship to share the gospel. We all have a ministry within us to share the good news. What is the gospel? The gospel is any of the four Books of the Bible beginning in the New Testament that details the life of Jesus Christ and the good news that Jesus died for our sins and rose again. The four Books are: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

I want to share an experience with you that recently touched my heart and opened my eyes to the many ways the word of God is shared to the world. I recently went to a braiding salon and as I was having my hair braided, the salon was playing gospel videos through YouTube on the television. I started thinking, Wow, this is another way to introduce others to Jesus. Yes, I have seen this before, but that day was different. I really paid attention to the impact this would make to someone who doesn’t know Christ.

This may even be the norm in this salon to play music like the department stores to entertain their guest, but I saw something bigger than this! It wasn’t just the act of playing music, but it was the ability to see “live” people praising God on the screen. This touched my heart significantly. We’re not always aware of the situation of others around us — depression, lost, suicidal, etc. — but to see people singing and praising God on the screen can be contagious and bring encouragement that is needed at that time.

As the Bible says in John 12:32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. We are all called to share the good news of salvation to the world. Then, before I left the shop, one of the stylist did something I had never witnessed before. She handed out small cards, nothing overwhelming, to the customers. It was a small shop with about 4-5 customers being serviced, but numbers do not matter. One person saved is a blessing and heaven rejoices, as it is written in Luke 15:10 In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” The woman took about five minutes to tell everyone about Jesus and how He died for our sins. This was amazing! She spoke about salvation and the Salvation Prayer. This was a true blessing and spoke volumes to me. The stylist was doing her part in this small shop to reach the lost. She didn’t force anyone to accept Christ. She was being a good steward in telling people about Him. These are people she may never see again, but they had the opportunity as they go back into the world to hear about Christ. It was beautiful! Please do not think speaking to a coworker in the hallway about Jesus or talking to a random person in the grocery store is small. Heaven rejoices over one sinner who repents.

It’s not enough for us to be saved, but we should want our family and friends, even enemies, to come to Christ. Just as I am sharing this post with you, I hope that you will share it with others in your network. I’m not concerned about losing followers on my social media pages because they do not want to hear about the love of Christ. That is each individual’s choice. However, I trust God with the seed that is being sowed in their life (i.e., the person cannot say they didn’t hear about Jesus) and trust Him to water the seed in His timing.

I was recently reading the Bible about the Holy Spirit giving believers their gifts. I encourage you to read 1 Corinthians 12: 1-11 Gifts of the Holy Spirit. I believe this will provide an understanding to the gifts you may not know you have, and if you’re unsure, go to God in prayer and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal it to you. He is all knowledge and wants to hear from you.
What is the ministry inside of you today? If you’re unsure, ask God and read His Word. He will speak. I didn’t know a year ago that I would be writing this blog. I thank God for revealing it to me through prayer and He will do the same for you.

Have a blessed week in Christ!
Peace and Blessings to you – Ayesha Shoulders
