Learning How to Praise God in all Seasons!

Life sometimes will throw you curve balls. Jesus never promised that we would not have to endure anything. In fact, He said in John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
He said we would have trouble, but then reminded us in the next sentence that we have hope! This is great news! Regardless of what you may be facing today, we have to remember to Praise Him in all circumstances. This may be challenging depending on your trial – sometimes all you want to do is cry from the pain, rejection, bills that are higher than what you have in your bank account, or at the loss of a love one. But if we take our mind off our situation and put our focus on God, He will keep us in perfect peace – Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
Instead of complaining about your situation or sulking at the problem, we are called to give Praise to God in all times. Praise because He is worthy; Praise because He is able to heal your broken heart and turn your situation around suddenly; Praise because He will sustain (help) you; Praise because He is near and will never leave you nor forsake you.
The Bible is full of God’s promises. We just have to open it to read them. The enemy wants to keep you as far away from the Word as possible because with it you’re able to distinguish his lies with faith in God (Ephesians 6:16). Now you may be saying, the pain is too great, it’s too hard, I can’t even pray because I’m grieving and cannot come up with anything to say…well, might I recommend opening your Bible to the Book of Psalms. God will help us to pray, even when we do not know what to say. The Holy Spirit lives inside of all believers who have accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior. The Spirit will help you when you do not know how to pray. He knows what you need at all times…
I have experienced a broken heart, but I knew I needed to still praise God. He is Bigger and Mightier than anything I may go through. I went to Psalms 145 and just started reading there when the pain was too great. If you start there you will notice the words Praise throughout the following chapters. The enemy wants you to wallow in pain, so confuse him and start giving God the praise He deserves. I’d also recommend that you read it daily. This will renew your mind and change your focus. God will answer and deliver you from your troubles.
Just so you know, whatever pain you are experiencing, God has already felt it and knows how it feels. Christ came to earth to save us, but He couldn’t even get any respect in his own hometown (Matt 13:53-58); He went to the cross for us – taking our punishment as the Lamb of God – but people still do not believe He is the Son of God; He was betrayed by a friend that walked closely with him daily (Luke 22); He lost a friend before too – Lazarus (John 11:1-44). BUT GOD! He brought Lazarus back to life! Praise God! If God is able to bring Lazarus back to life, then how much more will He not revive your situation? God sent his Son to the cross for you.
Praise God in the good times. Praise God in the hard times. Praise God in All times. Read the Book of Psalms when you can’t find the words to say to praise God and allow God to minister to you through His Holy Spirit.

  1. It’s so easy to sulk and complain about situations. As a believer God wants us to put our trust in Him. This devotional comes right on time for my current situation. Thank you so much for sharing!
