Jesus is Jehovah Rapha (The Lord Who Heals). He is the one true healer. In the passage about the woman in the Bible who had an issue of blood for 12 years, she had tried everything. If you have not read this passage, I encourage you to read it; it’s one of the many miracles Jesus did while on earth. You will find the verses in the following Gospels of the New Testament:
Matthew 9:20-22; Mark 5:25-34; Luke 8:43-48.
This woman had spent all she had going to doctors and none of them were able to heal her. Imagine going to doctor after doctor and putting your hope in them to make you better and nothing changes for 12 years. Not only would this situation become discouraging, but I would imagine it felt hopeless. What do you do when you’ve done all that you can? This woman’s situation reminded me that our hope is not in man, but in God alone. Psalm 33:20-22 We put our hope in the Lord. He is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. Let your unfailing love surround us, Lord, for our hope is in you alone.
It is God’s Will that we are in good health. Jesus went to the cross for our transgressions and paid our sin debt in full – something that we could not do. The Bible says in Isaiah 53:5 that by His stripes (the lashes He took in our place) we are healed. The key is do you believe it? The woman with the blood issue believed if she touched the hem of His (Jesus’) garment, she would be healed and she was. Do you believe He is your Jehovah Rapha? You have to believe it and have the faith in order to receive it. Jesus said to the woman after she touched Him in Luke 8:48 “Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.”
This woman did not give up. She did not throw in the towel because it had been 12 years. Sometimes people want to give up after a few attempts, but as you see staying the course paid off for her and it will for you when you trust in God. The Bible does not say the woman accepted this blood issue for her life. No – she heard about a man named Jesus Christ and she believed if she could just touch the hem of His garment, she would be healed. My prayer is that you will hear about Jesus Christ today, just like the woman, or want a deeper relationship with Him where you seek Him in your pain, sickness, issues, concerns, etc. Whatever you need, it can be found in Jesus Christ, our Jehovah Rapha.
So, what do you do when you’ve done all that you can? The Bible says in Ephesians 6:13 and Ephesians 6:14-15 …and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. Jesus is the truth that this verse is referring to. Stand with Him.
He loves us. He went to the cross for us. John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Jesus has done this already! He wants to help you. Jesus did not promise that we would not have trials and tribulations on earth. He promised that He would never leave us in them.
If you are seeing a doctor for medical or mental health concerns today, I’m not saying that God will not work through your physician. I’m saying to take your cares to the Lord first– immediately when the situation arises. If you haven’t done that yet, it’s not too late. You’re still breathing! Seek Him today! Seek His guidance, healing, and plan for your life. Listen to Him. He knows exactly what you need.
I pray that God will speak to you through this post. Please do not ignore His call today. He wants to help you. Let Him into your heart. God bless you.
Happy Thanksgiving to You and Yours
